“I hope all of us survive this insanity.” Peyton sighs as she stashes the ice cream away in the fridge in the corner.

I’ve never been one to dwell in negativity. “You and I made plans concerning a future, Peyton. You owe me.”

She rolls her eyes. “I owe you? Sure. If this goes to shit and I do die? I’ll be sure to resurrect because we made a pact. You’ll just have to settle for being haunted for the rest of your life.”

“Get naked,” I rumble, unable to resist her.

The way she has her fists on her hips radiating strength and feistiness is making my cock rock-hard.

“You want me to come back as a naked ghost?” she huffs. “You’re weird.”

“No, babe. Get. Naked. Now. I need to be inside you. There will be a whole new life-or-death situation if I’m not inside you within the next few minutes.”

“Oh. Right. Yes!” She jumps into action, and I swear I’ve never seen someone get naked so damn fast in all my life.

“Eager much?” I mutter but smile on the inside at the way she burns to take my cock.

“Shut up and get to it.” She waves a hand in the direction of my body while she just stands there with her fists now perched on her naked thighs.

I throw my shirt on a nearby chair and toe off my boots. “I love the feisty attitude and pose, but I need for you to get on the bed. On your knees. Face the wall with your hands against it.”

Peyton slowly slides into action as I remove my pants. My fingers circle the head of my cock as I squeeze and slide my hand up and down my hard length. Damn. The sight before me and all those days with the mere thought of having this woman all to my self has left me boiled up with the need to come.

Her burgundy red hair whips through the air when she gives me a sultry look over her shoulder. What a fucking sight with her positioned exactly how I want her. I crawl onto the bed and flip to my back. I smack my hand left and right between her thighs.

“Give me some more space, babe.” The roughness of my voice is due to the need to put my mouth on her.

Lying on my back—eyes set on heaven—I can tell you right now, this is what makes life even sweeter. A perfect looking, nicely shaved, slick pussy all for the taking. It’s mine and only mine. My cock has been in there, and the first time cum hit, jackpot. I might have some weird kinks, but the level of possessiveness is skyrocketing when it comes to this woman.

Her eyes are pinned on me, but I lose our connection when my tongue slides between her folds. Sweet heaven. The place between my woman’s legs isn’t a cunt and shouldn’t be addressed like one; it’s the best pussy ever. My fingers grab hold of her ass to make sure her pussy stays in place.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t put my mouth on a woman in years—hell, I can’t remember the last time I did—but tasting her one time a day will never be enough. My teeth graze her clit, and when I start to suck she flies straight into an orgasm. One where she loses herself and starts to ride my face to prolong her pleasure.

My name falls from her mouth while her body shakes with ecstasy above me. Magnificent. I grab hold and easily lift her and move her down my body. I need to feel her sweet pussy wrapped around my cock.

Her hands are on my pecs, balancing herself while the tip of my cock nudges her entrance. She doesn’t think twice but crashes her mouth against mine. Not caring one damn bit she’s tasting herself on my tongue as she swoops in. The both of us colliding, swirling, as we surrender to an erotic dance inside our mouths. My hips leave the mattress, and I slide deep inside her sweet pussy in one hard stroke.

If eating her pussy was heaven, my cock sliding home is placing myself on cloud fucking nine. Fuck everything going wrong in our lives and the danger we’re wrapped in. This moment right here is where we recharge to face everything life throws at us. And I will fight like hell to keep us alive and safe.

I gasp for my next breath while my body tries to accommodate his intrusion. Oh, but the sweet bite of erotic pain is a wave I want to keep riding. I won’t ever leave this bed if this man will be in it too. The whole world stops spinning when we connect, and it’s as if there’s only the two of us consuming the moment.

His fingers grip my waist. His hips shoot off the mattress as he pushes me down on his dick and slides me up, repeating the action over and over. I’m trying to focus on our kiss, but my whole body is driven with overloading pleasure.

I just had an intense orgasm, and yet this man has the ability to demand another one. I can feel it building. Tingles burst from my fingertips, toes, lips, and my breasts as they rub on his muscled chest. Every single inch of my body is captivated by him, and only him.

Another gasp for air, and I bury my face against the crook of his neck. My lips feather over his skin where I can feel his heart pumping as hard and as fast as mine. I sink my teeth into him the moment my orgasm slams through my body.

Hunt grunts underneath me and pushes his dick deep inside as it starts to pulse with hot jets, filling me up. Moans. Grunts. Hands roaming. Pussy and dick twitching as we come down from our mutual high. So. Freaking. Good.

My mouth stays fixated on his skin as I place kisses along his neck, nipping and sucking as I go. One of his hands leaves my waist and slides into my hair, fisting to guide my lips to his. I expect him to devour my mouth with a hard kiss, but instead it’s gentle and sensual.

I break the kiss and stare at him. “If you spoil me with a kiss like this after mind-blowing sex, it kinda sets expectations.”

His body shakes underneath me from the chuckle rippling from his chest. Dammit, how can this man become more sexier by the damn second? I think he infected me with a virus that’s slowly taking over my body and turning me into his personal love slave. Wait. It’s not love. It can’t be. We only just started this thing together, and most of the time I’ve hate his guts.

Okay, maybe hate is a strong word, and I don’t really hate him because he also gives my body what it clearly needs, but still. Maybe there’s a hint of adoration for the way he adores me from time to time. Yes, that sounds more like it.

“Woman,” he growls, “when it comes to you, I have no fucking expectations or limitations for that matter. It’s all natural. The moment my lips or hands touch your body knowing it’s all mine and only mine to take, there’s no choice, only raw need.”

“Okay then.” I sigh, glad we agreed to move forward together, and yet it’s hard to believe this thing between us is as real as it gets.

We have not only one kid between us but two—his daughter and our unborn child. There’s a lot at risk, and yet when I look into his eyes, everything falls away and it seems so simple to open my heart and let him in. Hormones. It’s gotta be the hormones and post-orgasm haze making me think these things.

“You and me,” Hunt croaks. “I’ve craved this kind of connection. Wanting a solid mother figure for Raven. And don’t think I made you my old lady because of it or the fact you were pregnant and I felt responsible. But…” A deep sigh rips from his chest. “I’m fucking this up, and I can’t think of the right words to tell you this, but fuck, I think you’re amazing, okay? If I could have picked a woman to be Raven’s mother, it would have been you. I don’t fucking care if we’re together for the blink of an eye. Raven doesn’t open up to anyone. You were friends with her before I even met you. And when I met you and put my damn hands on you? Yeah, you getting knocked up proved we need to be connected for life. All that shit about ‘meant to be’ can kiss my ass, but you, me, Raven, and the one in your belly share a future together.”

Emotions slam through me and bubble to the surface, spilling out through the tears sliding down my cheeks.

“My mother was right about you,” I tell him on a sob.

“Oh, babe,” he whispers and hugs me close to his body.

His dick slides out of me along with a rush of fluids. Yikes.

“I need a shower,” I mutter and push myself up.
<
br />   Hunt cups the side of my face and brushes a stray tear away from my cheek. “Yeah, we do. Come on, let’s get cleaned up so we can check back with Alaric. I also need to call my parents. I was supposed to pick her up later today, but with everything going on, it’s better to keep her there for a few more days.”

“I miss her. Even if we’ve talked on the phone, it’s not the same. But you’re right to keep her out of this. I hope it’s possible for Raven to stay with your parents a little while longer.”

“Yeah.” He sighs. “Have we decided yet about when to tell Raven about the baby?”

I swallow hard. “I don’t know. We should. To be honest, I’m afraid of her reaction. It can go from excitement to jealousy, anger, or hell, maybe she’ll think I’m trying to steal you away from her. See? Insecurities are bouncing all over because I don’t want to mess this up.”

Great. Now he’s cupping my face with both hands. His eyes twinkle with laughter and adoration. “We’re in this together, PeyPey Potato. We will make this work.”

Laughter rips freely from my mouth as I shake my head. “Using the road name your daughter picked out for me, huh?”

“Yep. Like I said, we’re in this together. One way or another, we will make it work.”

“We will,” I whisper and give the man who stole a little piece of my heart just now a kiss to show him just how grateful I am to have him in my life.

He takes me with him when he gets up and strolls to the bathroom. We take our time showering, and the way this man slides into easy banter and mundane tasks yet again fills my heart. It might seem tiny, but it’s actually the little things that matter the most. The days I’ve been here he’s been working and doing everything he can to keep danger away from me and his daughter.

He didn’t want to hang around me these last few days because he was afraid he couldn’t keep up appearances. Yet it’s in hard times you get to know a person and push through to see how well you can lean on one another.

I slip on a dark green summer dress with flip-flops while Hunt puts on black jeans and a white wife beater. I can’t imagine wearing black jeans in this Nevada heat, but my body is never really cold, unlike my sister. Harper can wear a hoodie while the birds are dropping from the rooftop due to a freaking heat stroke.

Harper… another thing worrying me. Linc is keeping me up to date about her well-being, but it also kills me to know she’s close. I want to visit or even see her through a damn window so bad, but I can’t. Believe me, from what I’ve heard, it’s better for her, and knowing Linc is taking good care of her somewhat soothes my worry. But then again, I would like to see her with my own eyes and ask her if she truly is okay.

“You comin’ with me or staying here?” Hunt asks.

I grab my phone and stalk to the door he’s holding open. “Coming with.”

Hunt laces his fingers with mine as he closes the door and locks it. When we get to the main room of the clubhouse, we realize the whole space is vacant except for Angie who is sitting on the couch with her phone in hand and eyes pinned on the front door.

“Hey,” Hunt greets her. “Where’s everyone?”

Angie doesn’t take her eyes off the door as she answers. “In their rooms, resting. Alaric’s order. He’s off to talk to Bruno.”

“Why the fuck did he leave to talk with Bruno alone?” Hunt snaps.

Angie’s head swings his way. “Bruno’s demand. He came by with a limo to pick Alaric up. Bruno brought a few of his guys along with him for some extra security. It’s some arranged meeting. Alaric made me stay put to make sure everyone is resting for what’s to come. He’s on edge about all of it. You know, the risks, working with… you know.” Angie shrugs then glances at me and smiles.

I know she’s trying to be vague, and I don’t blame her. Though it’s good to see and know the president’s old lady isn’t being kept in the dark.

“My old lady was at the meeting, Angie. She knows as much as you do, and I’m keeping it that way.” Hunt grunts as he gives our joined hands a squeeze.

“Awesome.” Angie jumps up and points at Hunt. “You can take over for me. Sit, because me and Peyton need to have some coffee.”

“She can’t have coffee,” Hunt sputters, and it’s too funny to see him fuss over me.

“I’m pregnant. What he means is I can’t have too much caffeine. But I will join you while you have some. The only conversations we’ve had since I came here have been way too short, and I would love some small talk. And a cold drink. No coffee, Hunt, I swear.”

Hunt grumbles something about wanting to stay close but sits his ass on the couch anyway as I follow Angie into the kitchen.

Angie starts to roam around and throws some sugar along with water and ice and some other stuff into a blender. The both of us are silent as the noise of the blender fills the air. She grabs two large glasses and fills them up. After adding a straw, she hands one to me.

When the taste hits my mouth, I can feel my eyes widen. I groan in contentment and take a few more sips before I tell her, “This is freaking amazing and just what I need.”

Angie smirks. “I know. Hunt told Alaric about your obsession with lemon and lime when it comes to food. I thought you might enjoy a lime slushy.”

“Enjoy?” I groan. “Be prepared to be woken up at odd hours during the night so you can make me one of these. Or I need to torture you to get the recipe. Oh man, this rocks.”

“Romero was a DEA informant, and that will complicate things,” Angie blurts out, and it makes me choke on the icy goodness.

“What?” I sputter while my brain tries to unfreeze.

“Yeah. When Bruno came to pick Alaric up for the meeting with Bruno’s contact at the DEA, they had a talk before they left, and Bruno shared that gem.”

“How did we not know this? Why is Bruno just now mentioning it?”

Angie shrugs. “The DEA might have told Bruno when he set up the meeting, I really don’t know. Bruno and Alaric have a complicated relationship. Not just because of their different paths in life. Did you know, before I became Alaric’s old lady, Bruno wanted me to become his mistress?”

“Really? You were caught between brothers? That sounds complicated.”

“Uh-huh, I shit you not. It’s all in the past, but Alaric can’t help but rub it in Bruno’s face that I’m his old lady and will never be Bruno’s. If he could get away with it, I think the annoying caveman would piss all over me in front of the world to stake his claim.”

“Bikers don’t function like most men,” I mutter and give her a smile. “Though from what I’ve seen and heard, your old man must love you.”

Angie gives me a smile. “Love is a big word. With my past and his, it’s not something either of us experienced or had, but we fit perfectly. And the few months we’ve been together have been the best of my life, and he says the same thing, so I guess you’re right. Though it’s not something we talk about. We’d rather relish in the righteousness of it all, you know?”

My cheeks hurt from the smile I give her in return, and I nudge her shoulder. “Yeah, that sounds like love to me. But you’re right, love isn’t something you talk about. Even when you say it to the person you love, it’s a mere word. It’s all about the actions, how you stand in life, what you want from it, and how you fit with the person you share your life with.”

“Do you love Hunt?” Angie whispers.

I have to think over her question, finding it hard to give an answer to. “It’s too soon to give you a straight answer. If you would have asked if I loved his daughter, I would have said yes in the blink of an eye. We’ve been friends for a while now and have seen and talked almost every day. She’s adorable, friendly, funny, fierce, and can swear like a pirate’s parrot.”

Laughter comes from my left, and my heart skips a beat when I see Hunt staring at me. He steps closer and places a kiss on my forehead.

His lips slide to my ear. “You just took root in my heart by the shit you said about Raven. Careful now,
I ain’t one for a perfect love story, but, woman, if I had love to give, I would easily be open to handing you everything I can muster.”

Too soon. Unrealistic. Words slip through my brain to rid myself of the pink cloud this man is lifting me upon. Dammit.

I take a step back to put some space between me and Hunt. “Let’s see if we can live to love another day, huh? Because what Angie just told me sends chills running up and down my spine. It’s as if the plot keeps thickening, attempting to smother each and every one of us.”

Hunt closes the distance again and wraps an arm around my waist to pull me flush against his body. “What’s going on?”

Angie takes a sip of her slushy before she blurts out what she’s already told me. “When Bruno picked up Alaric, they had a meeting in church before they left to meet with Bruno’s contact. He told him Romero was a DEA informant.”

“Motherfucker. Why in the hell didn’t Alaric bring me into this? I should have been there,” Hunt grumbles in frustration.

“I was only there because you know how Alaric loves to taunt his brother and rub our relationship in his face. But Bruno specifically said his contact wanted to meet with just Bruno and Alaric, that’s why you weren’t pulled in.

“Do you know if Bruno’s contact knows we’re the one who took care of Romero?”

Angie shakes her head. “No, Hunt. Bruno knows because nothing slips by him. There’s a reason people fear Bruno; he has contacts and information even the government is jealous of. All we can do is wait for Alaric to return. It’s the reason why I was holding onto my phone and placed you on the couch so you could keep an eye on the door to make sure I know the very second my old man gets back.”

“Your old man is back,” Alaric’s voice rumbles through the air, making all our heads whip his way. “Hunt. Church, now. Angie, can you keep Peyton company?”

Angie gives her man a smile and nods. My nerves are bouncing all over the place and make my stomach ready for a roller-coaster ride.

“Breathe, babe. I’ll be right back. Try to stay calm and talk to Angie.” His husky tone whispering right next to my ear is soothing.
